2018 ScholarshipThe Windsor Garden Club presented its annual educational scholarship award to Chris Dowd, a December 2017 graduate of Windsor High School on August 13.
Chris is very deserving of this scholarship award: he graduated in the top quartile of his class, far surpassed the number of volunteer hours needed, and served as a police cadet, among other accomplishments. He gained early acceptance to the University of Connecticut where he plans to major in landscape architecture.
Chris began his own landscaping business, Simple Life Landscape, at age 15, initially mowing lawns. He began working with two other landscapers to gain experience and opportunities to learn more about design and hardscape. Using the knowledge he gains at UConn, he anticipates expanding and keeping his business in Windsor. Chris has high goals, as he stated, “I plan to continue growing my landscape company hopefully to the point we are one of the leading design and building firms in Connecticut.”
Parents Dan and Colleen are to Chris' left with Garden Club members presenting the award to his right.
