2015 Garden Tour PicturesThe membership of the Windsor Garden Club extends it appreciation to the eight garden hosts that permitted their landscapes or gardens to be viewed by the patrons of this year’s tour. The willingness of the hosts to support the Club provided a delightful tour for all to enjoy. Additional appreciation is extended to Club members who volunteered to act as hosts at the various tour locations.
The Club also thanks those Windsor retailers who took time to sell tickets to the tour. They are Jordan Florist, Snelgrove’s, Ashley’s Distinctive Jewelry & Gifts, and Bill Selig Jewelers. Also, the Club wishes to recognize those Windsor restaurants that offered reduce pricing to tour patrons. They are Dom’s Broad Street Eatery, Get Baked Bakery, LLC, Union Street Tavern and Windsor 75 Diner Restaurant.
The day of the tour was quite warm but featured a constant breeze. Patrons came out to enjoy the landscapes and the gardens as well as this year’s refreshment area, which was provided by and hosted by members of the Club. Adjacent to the refreshment area was a garden art and jewelry area presented by Club member Helen Davenport. Tour patrons came from various locations within Connecticut as well as from out of state, such as Westfield, Massachusetts! A number of patrons were active members of other Connecticut garden clubs.
One aspect of the tour which was well received, was the fact that those who toiled to create the landscapes and gardens, were available to answer questions and guide tour patrons as necessary. Also, there was verbal patron appreciation for the detailed map and driving instruction sheet which was provided with the tour ticket.
The locations of the tour featured a wide array of perennial and annual flower gardens as well as vegetable gardens. Landscapes featured a variety of trees and ornamental flowers within sun and shade orientated areas. One eclectic landscape featured a grouping of doors which serve as a boundary fence. With the wide variety the tour locations provided, the members of the Club are sure that the featured locations had some interesting aspect for every tour patron.
